GC45 GC45 WF35: SW01 Support for Broadview Magazine for Summer 2025 Nearly all of discussion groups affirmed the value and importance Broadview Magazine as a publication that enhances education, dialogue, and informs members about the works of the church. The majority of discussion groups took issue with restoring funding to Broadview, citing financial concerns. Many believe that Broadview is not a major priority for funding, and view that it is not an effective avenue for growth into areas like first third ministry and racialized and Indigenous people. Many discussions groups encouraged Broadview to explore various ways to reduce costs. Therefore, the Way Forward Team proposes: That, in response to SW01 Support for Broadview Magazine, the 45th General Council, 2025, Affirm the value and importance of Broadview Magazine as a publication that contributes greatly to enhanced education and dialogue about important spiritual and justice issues of our day; Affirm Broadview Magazine as a means by which United Church people as well as others learn about the United Church and issues that require in depth ethical consideration; Take no further action on SW01 Support for Broadview Magazine for Summer 2025 Save to PDF True Document Date August 11, 2025 Document Type Way Forward Originating Body Way Forward Committee Latest News GCE Summary, February 20–21, 2026 The first 45th General Council Executive (GCE) of 2026 met online on February 20 and 21, 2026, thoughtfully reflecting the Executive’s role to offer insight, oversight, and foresight for the good of the church.
