GC43 or earlier GC33 Paper Recycling THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the 33rd General Council of The United Church of Canada establish as its policy that:recycled paper to be used for publications, correspondence, reports, documents, and forms used by the General Council, and encouraged throughout the church, within the practical limits and requirements for existing equipment and specific production requirements for certain documents;this policy be implemented to move toward a goal by the end of 1991 of having the majority of the paper used by paper which has been recycled;all members and courts of the United Church be urged: to use recycled paper even at some increased costs; to explore and practise ways of reducing paper use without reducing communication; and to recycle and reuse paper wherever possible;BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Executive Secretary of the General Council of The United Church of Canada communicate our concerns and recommendation that federal and provincial governments:use recycled paper within the limits mentioned in (1) above;increase their participation in the development of markets for recycled paper;increase the opportunities for employment in paper recycling;encourage citizens to save and separate paper for recycling.
