GCE45 GS35 Revisions to ChurchHub Access for Ministry Personnel for February 2026

1. What is the issue?

Currently, ministry personnel who have not yet declared themselves to be available for call or appointment, cannot see the fullprofile descriptions of communities of faith with ministry vacancies.

This was intentionally designed so that the Office of Vocation could attest that ministry personnel were on the registry of accredited ministry personnel and therefore eligible for a call or appointment. Ministry personnel had to request to be made available for call or appointment and then could see the full profiles of communities of faith.

Some ministry personnel are concerned about making themselves publicly available for call or appointment as this information could be shared with their current community of faith and could risk the existing pastoral relationship.

2. Why is the issue important?

Making the suggested changes to ChurchHub would allow ministry personnel to view full community of faith profiles privately and would not have to make themselves publicly available for call or appointment prior to being ready to do so.

The challenge is to ensure that ministry personnel who apply for ministry positions are on the registry of accredited ministry personnel, so that communities of faith can be confident that ministry personnel they interview and offer a position to are eligible for call or appointment.

The original proposal stated that ministry personnel apply for positions through ChurchHub. Unfortunately, this information is wrong. Ministry personnel do not apply through ChurchHub but directly to the community of faith search committee.

Office of Vocation staff have determined a way forward that will meet the desire of ministry personnel to view full community of faith profiles and at the same time ensure that ministry personnel are on the registry of accredited ministry personnel prior to being able to apply for a position.

3. How might the Executive of the General Council respond to this issue?

That, in response to ECO05 Change to ChurchHub Access For Ministry Personnel, the Executive of General Council

  • Directs the General Secretary to modify ChurchHub to allow for all ministry personnel to view full community of faith profiles in the “Find a New Ministry” section of ChurchHub prior to formally requesting to be made available for call or appointment by the Office of Vocation
  • Continues to require ministry personnel to be on the registry of accredited ministry personnel in order to be made available for appointment or call, prior to applying for any community of faith available position listed on ChurchHub

4. What will be the impact?

Staff time is involved in making modifications to ChurchHub.

5. How does this proposal help us live into the commitments on equity?

N/A
